STILLNESS ON SAFARI
Become silent, become one with nature.
“Silence is essential. We need silence, just as much as we need air, just as much as plants need light. If our minds are crowded with words and thoughts, there is no space for us.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
Safari translates from Swahili to journey or travel. Experience magnificent wildlife in their stunning natural habitat on an African safari, as well as an elevated inward journey of discovery.
Rise to new heights as you practice yoga, surrounded by the African wilderness and encounter the Big 5 up close and personal. Become one with the vulnerability of nature.
Situated on South Africa’s malaria-free Garden Route, Kariega Game Reserve spans across 10,000 hectares of pristine Eastern Cape wilderness and is home to the famous Big 5 as well as a multitude of African wildlife including hippo, giraffe and zebra. The reserve is also a paradise for birdlife, including resident and migrant birds.
The game reserve is located in the coastal belt of 1820 Settler Country, a natural extension to a visit to Cape Town and a trip along South Africa’s beautiful coast. The nearest airport is Port Elizabeth and is an 80 minute drive away, the seaside village of Kenton-on-Sea is 10 minutes drive and the historic town of Grahamstown can be reached in half an hour.

UNFOLDING OF THE DAY
Each morning by first light we will depart on our private safari, welcoming the day with our sun salutations in various surprise venues, have your mats ready! Upon returning a scrumptious breakfast awaits. The rest of the morning we will have time for relaxing at the pool, more optional activities and some workshops on breathing techniques.
After spending some time savouring the silence of the bush, we will start our afternoon yoga sessions outdoors (weather permitting). We then enjoy afternoon tea before setting off on our evening game drive. In Africa the sunset deserves a special toast, which we will do in style with sundowners in the Bush.
As the day bleeds into night and the silence settle over our surroundings, we will follow nature’s cycle. Dinner will be a feast around a table with shared stories and experiences. After sharing a lazy meal, we have enough time for a deep rest and dreaming up more adventure for tomorrow.
